History

Ann Arbor's city parks sit on the ancestral and traditional homelands of several indigenous Native peoples. Read a land acknowledgement from the city and learn more about the early history of the land here.

The land that is Waymarket Park was dedicated to the city of Ann Arbor by Beztak Apartments and Signature Housing in 1988 to create park space for nearby residents. The park's playground was built in 1993 and more improvements were made in 1998.
