 Solid Waste and Recycling  

 

The city provides municipal solid waste refuse, recycling, and compost collection and processing services.  All residents and businesses are eligible for weekly recycling collection at no additional charge. In 1998 Ann Arbor was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as having one of the top twenty waste reduction programs in North America.

Announcements

There will be no trash or recycling collection in the City of Ann Arbor on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. Weekly pickups will be delayed one day throughout the week, with the normal Friday routes collected on Saturday. City Hall offices and the Drop-Off Station will also be closed on this holiday. Link to all 2008 collection observed holidays.

Weekly curbside Compostable collection resumed April 1, 2008. 30-35 gallon compost can pickups end July 1. Compost will continue to be collected in paper bags and as bundled branches. Optional compost carts are available. Link to more information on compost carts.

Student Solid Waste Information.  Check for special seasonal and ongoing City off-campus services. Find more useful information  at www.a2gov.org/goblue.   

Bulky Waste Disposal. To handle oversized items, such as appliances, furniture, mattresses and waste that does not fit into the A2 Carts, please contact private haulers or use the Drop-Off Station or consider local reuse options.
