About the Facility

Welcome to Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena and Pool! Buhr Park features a six-lane, 25 yard pool with a 12 foot deep well, a separate zero-depth entry children’s wading pool, locker rooms, picnic tables and lounge chairs to enjoy. In addition to the pool, there is an outdoor regulation size ice rink which operates during the winter season. ​​Right outside the pool area you can enjoy 39 acres of rolling hills, picnic areas, with barbecue grills, a playground, softball diamonds, soccer fields, and outdoor tennis courts at the park.​​

2024/2025 Winter​ Season​

The outdoor Ice Rink will be open November 14- March 23, weather permitt​ing. Check back for any updates or changes. 

The rink will be closed Dec. 24-25; Jan. 1.

Open Skate Schedule:

  • Sunday: 3:15-5:30 p.m.

  • Monday: 3:30-5 p.m.

  • Tuesday: 4:45-6:15 p.m. PM (except Jan. 28)

  • Wednesday: 4:45-5:45 p.m.

  • Thursday: 3:30-4:45 p.m

  • Friday: 7-8:45 p.m.

    • Delayed start:​ Jan. 17 (45 minutes)

  • Saturday: 2:45-4:30  p.m. and 7:15-8:30 p.m.

Rent the Ice Arena

Buhr Outdoor Ice Arena is available to rent for a variety of opportunities. Regularly scheduled ice rentals are great for hockey teams, while one-time rentals are great for parties or group functions. The hourly rental rate is $190. Ice time is limited, so please email [email protected] for availability. ​


School Break Skating

Additional public skate sessions held  during school break​s from noon-2 p.m. on: Dec. 23, 26-27, and 30; Jan. 2-3 and 20; Feb. 14 and 17-1​

* Skate rental is available in size 9 youth to men's 14 in both figure skates and hockey skates. Limited supply, first come first serve basis. 


Public Skating Punch Passes

Punch passes are only eligible for walk-in admissions for open skate. Theses passes are good for open skate for you, your family members and any guests you bring with you; one punch per visit per person of the correct age for the pass. 

Passes are valid at Buhr Park and Veterans Memorial Park ice arenas until May 3, 2025 and are non-refundable.

Sticks and Pucks

Sticks and pucks at Buhr Park is a public session open to all ages and all skill levels. This unstructured ice time provides an opportunity for hockey players to focus on individual skill development. Sessions are limited to 40 skaters to maintain a safe environment for everyone on the ice. Parents are welcome to join their child on the ice.

  • Skates, sticks and helmets required for anyone on the ice, USA Hockey’s full equipment guidelines recommended.

  • All pucks provided by the ice rink must be returned to the front desk at the conclusion of each session.

  • No goalies allowed during this time.

  • No “pick-up” games allowed.

  • No checking, rough housing or slapshots.

  • Skate trainers are not allowed for use during this time.

Sticks and Pucks Schedule

​​Sunday: 9-10 a.m. (except Jan. 19, Jan. 26)

Tuesday: 3:30-4:30 p.m. 

Friday: 3:30-5 p.m. 

Saturday: 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Drop-In Hockey


  • Full equipment is required. Such equipment should include a helmet, gloves, shin pads, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hip pads or padded hockey pants, and protective cup.

  • Anyone under 17 must wear full-face protection with their helmet.

  • Registration begins a half hour before game time.​

  • Each player must register in-person at the front desk.

  • We will not take registration over the phone and no friend registration is allowed.

  • Absolutely no checking allowed.

  • Players must follow staff instructions, or they will be ejected.

Drop In Hockey Schedule

  • Monday: 9-10 p.m. (18+ only)
  • ​​​​Tuesday:  7:45-8:45 p.m. ( women only)
  • Wednesday: 3:30-4:30 p.m. (all ages); 9-10 p.m. (men 18+ only)​

​Frozen Fridays

Join us for our Frozen Friday Skates during general skate from 7-8:45 PM. Skate to themed music and feel free to dress up to each theme!

Skate Sharpening

Skate sharpening is available at Buhr Park. We can sharpen skates on the spot for $6 or they can be left overnight for $5. Please allow 10-15 minutes for skates to be sharpened.​​​​​


​Extended Season Policy

Weather permitting, the Buhr Park Ice Arena season may be extended for a maximum of one week. Buhr Park recreational supervisors will determine if the weather will enable the ice arena to continue operating at an efficient level after the scheduled March 23 closing date. If the predicted high temperature (according to www.weather.com) will be consistently below 45 degrees, Buhr Park will offer limited public skating and drop-in hockey times for up to one week.


City of Ann ​Arbor Public Pool Rules​​​

  • ​​All swimmers must take a shower before entering the pool.​
  • Everyone must wear a clean bathing suit with liner to enter the water.
  • No running or horseplay.
  • All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by someone age 16 or older.​
  • All children under the age of 12 must pass a deep end test in order to swim in the deep end.
  • Inflatables are not allowed in the pool (balls are permitted). All flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved.
  • Diving is permitted only in the deep end of the pool. No flips, spin jumps, or back dives are allowed.
  • No smoking.
  • Snorkels, masks, fins, kickboards, and pull buoys are for lap swimming only.
  • The City of Ann Arbor is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • The wading pool is for children ages 7 and under accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents and/or guardians must actively supervise their children.
  • No glass containers are permitted within the pool area.
  • The consumption of alcohol prior to or while visiting the pool is prohibited.
  • Persons with infections, a communicable disease, or open skin irritations are not allowed in the pool.
  • No spitting or otherwise polluting the pool.
  • No pets are allowed on the pool deck.
  • No animals are allowed in the pool.
  • ​All food waste must be disposed of in garbage cans.
