Begins late Spring 2024
Why is this project being done?
Water mains have been identified for replacement due to age and condition of existing infrastructure.
Funding for improvements within the Allen Creek watershed have been allocated for underground detention of rain runoff within the project area.
The road condition from Newport to Chapin warrants repaving. This section of pavement was not repaved during the 2013 Miller reconstruction work.
Miller Avenue is an all ages and abilities bike corridor, with funding available to upgrade the bike facilities.
Potential impacts to residents
Residents in the vicinity will experience noise and dust normally associated with construction.
Thru traffic will be detoured around the construction zone.
Local access for residents on Miller Avenue will be maintained.
Cost & Funding Source
This project is being funded by multiple sources, including City Water Utility and Stormwater Utility Funds, State Transportation funds, County Road Millage Funds, and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
