 Communications Office

The City of Ann Arbor Communications Office is responsible for keeping Ann Arbor residents and City of Ann Arbor employees informed about the actions of the city. Our mission is to ensure communication between the city and citizens. Equally important, the Communications Office seeks to increase citizen involvement and input into all areas of the city's operations.

These goals are accomplished in many ways using various forms of mass communications tools, including newsletters, press releases, the city’s Web site and various public engagement techniques.

The Communications Office also operates Community Television Network (CTN), one of the oldest access television operations in the country, which is a free service to Ann Arbor residents. CTN offers public and government programs on Comcast cable channels 16, 17, 18 and 19. In addition, CTN offers live coverage of City Council and boards and commissions meetings and produces in-studio and on-location news, information, educational, cultural, public affairs, sports and human interest shows.

The Communications Office produces several publications for citizens as well as A2 News Notes e-newsletter for city employees. The unit also maintains and updates the City of Ann Arbor Web site.
