Mission Statement

The Ann Arbor City Planning Department provides expertise and information to advise and guide public and private community decision makers in achieving the best possible development, redevelopment, improvements and preservation for the benefit of the people who live in, work in and visit the City.

Under Review

  • Proposed Amendments to Chapter 55 (Zoning), Section, Lot Accessibility (October  16, 2007)

  • A2D2 Master Plan and Ordinance Amendments

  • Citizen Participation Ordinance

  • The City Planning Commission will consider changes to Chapter 55 (Zoning) regarding Area, Height and Placement at their June 3, 2008 Business Meeting.  These proposed amendments would reduce required setbacks, increase height limitations and increase the floor area ratio for non-residential uses in areas outside of downtown.  Minor changes are proposed for Chapter 59 (Off-Street Parking) related to parking in the front open space.  These changes are proposed to: a) promote non-motorized access, b) use land and infrastructure more efficiently, and c) encourage vitality along transit corridors.  These proposed modifications affect areas outside of downtown and are not related to the planning efforts regarding (A2D2).  No changes are proposed for single family zoning districts.  Please contact Jeff Kahan (994-8184) in Planning and Development Services for more information or to provide comment.
