A Geographic Information System (GIS) basically boils down to storing digital spatial information in map form, instead of plain text documents or hand drawn maps. Different catergories of information are referred to as data layers. The Planning Department offers several GIS data layers which can be used to create customized maps.
Maps are available in two sizes: Small (8.5 by 11) and Large (36 by 44). Large maps are also called "plots".
Map orders must be placed in person at the Planning Department and must be paid for at time of order.
We are sorry, but digital GIS data layers are currently available not for sale at this time from the City. If you would like purchase digital GIS data layers they are available thru the Washtenaw County website.
