Requesting Residential Handicap Parking

In order for handicap parking signs to be installed in a residential neighborhood the following conditions must be met:

  • The requestor must not have off-street parking available to them

  • The placement of the restricted parking space must not interfere with the flow of traffic

  • The requested parking space must be adjacent to the requestor's property

  • Unusual or unique circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis

To submit a request for a handicap space, please contact ProjectManagement@a2gov.org or call (734) 994-4212 and provide the following information:

  • A written request for a handicap space

  • A copy of the requestor's valid handicap vehicle registration or hangtag from the State of Michigan

Once the request has been received, a Public Services employee will examine the site, and the city will determine whether the request may be granted.
