Donation and Resale Centers

Ann Arbor District Library, Main Branch, 343 Fifth Ave., 994-2333. Accepts books for Friends of the Library, delivered to the loading dock during library hours. 
Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop

Accepts and sells small household goods, clothing and toys.

Domestic Violence Project/Safe House
4100 Clark Rd., 973-0242.
Call for current needs. Generally accepts new clothing and toys.

Drop-Off Station, 2950 E. Ellsworth, 971-7400. Accepts clean, dry clothing, paired shoes and linens in plastic bags. Also recycles appliances, computers, electronics, disks & tapes (fee charged)

Food Gatherers

Accepts nonperishable food on a pre-arranged basis.
Friends in Deed, 30 N. Washington St., Ste. 30 Ypsilanti. 484-7607. 9:30-Noon. Accepts furniture and working appliances in good condition to provide to area needy. Call in advance to arrange drop-off or transfer of items. 
Habitat for Humanity ReStore
170 April Drive (off Jackson between Wagner and Zeeb). 822-1530. Open Tues-Sat, 9-4. Accepts and sells new and gently used building materials, tools, appliances, and architectural salvage items. Will schedule pickups.
House by the Side of the Road

Accepts clothing, bedding, toys and small household articles. Call ahead.

Humane Society of Huron Valley

Accepts blankets, towels, pet articles, dog collars, leashes, newspapers. 

Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor - Downtown

Accepts and sells clothing, furniture, tools, toys, books and small appliances. Will schedule free pickups.

Military Order of the Purple Heart

Accepts and sells clothing, household articles, working portable TVs, cars.  Will schedule free pickups.

Pregnancy Help Center

Accepts seasonal maternity and children's clothing up to size 4, infant baby toys and books.

Recycle Ann Arbor's ReUse Center

Accepts and sells salvaged building materials, working appliances and household items. Pickup service available; some restrictions apply.

St. Vincent De Paul Society

Accepts and sells clothing and household items.

Salvation Army, Area Drop-Off Center

Accepts clothing and household items. Will schedule free pickups.

The Scrap Box, 581 State Circle, 994-4420. Accepts and sells craft items from industrial discards. Public welcome to recycle clean film canisters, corks and baby food jars.

Thrift Shop Association

Accepts and sells clothing, toys, jewelry and small household items.

Consignment and Resale Shops

Consignment shops will pay for your used items to resell. An annual membership fee may be involved.  Telephone before dropping off items.

You can also try selling your useable items to antique, used book and music shops, many are listed on Washtenaw County's  Trash-to-Treasures. Try holding your own yard sale or use the free Saturday Freebie ads offered through the Ann Arbor News. Freecycle offers free local internet listings. Several local companies offer assistance to handle eBay listings--do a web search to locate these options!
