The Ann Arbor Airport operates 24 hours a day, handling business, corporate and public and private flights, air ambulance service, flight instruction and charter services. The City owns and leases 148 T-hangars, and some tie-down spaces. The Airport Advisory Committee gathers and analyzes information regarding the municipal airport and the property it occupies, and makes relative recommendations to the City Council and other city officials. Fleet Services is responsible for purchasing and maintaining vehicles and equipment the City needs for its operation, including police patrol cars, dump trucks, refuse trucks, sweepers, tractors and other miscellaneous equipment. This division also purchases gasoline and diesel fuel for use by City vehicles. Fleet Services traditionally holds an auction twice a year at the Washtenaw County Fairgrounds.
