We strive to create an environment where employees are valued and empowered to positively support our mission. The Ann Arbor Housing Commission will advocate for public and private-sector policies that challenge systems that create inequity, oppression and disparity and work with community partners to bring about positive change.
Black Lives Matter
The Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC) supports the goals of the Black Lives Matter movement and other social justice movements to end systemic inequity and to support justice and equality for marginalized people, and in particular, black people. As a nonprofit organization and public housing authority, we provide affordable housing to low-income families and individuals. As a community service provider, it is our mission to support our families whose lives are impacted by systemic inequality. Read the full resolution.

Special Screening - “Beyond the Bridge: A Solution to Homelessness"
Join us for a special screening and panel discussion about a powerful new documentary on homelessness. Sponsored by the University of Michigan School of Social Work ENGAGE, Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, Poverty Solutions, the City of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, and the Washtenaw Housing Alliance. This event features critically-acclaimed director Don Sawyer’s powerful new documentary, Beyond the Bridge: A Solution to Homelessness, examines the root causes of homelessness and explores comprehensive solutions. Filmed over 40,000 miles, it captures insights from 12 cities and interviews with dozens of service providers and policymakers, all driven by one key question: “How can we solve homelessness in a comprehensive way?”
The screening will be followed by an engaging panel co-moderated by School of Social Work Dean Beth Angell and City of Ann Arbor Mayor, Christopher Taylor. The panel will address the alarming rise in homelessness locally and nationally, highlighting innovative policy solutions that are being explored in our city and county.
This event is free and open to the public. Join us at the Michigan Theater on MARCH 11, 2025, at 6PM. Reserve your spot here!
