Available Parks for Adoption
If you are a group or individual interested in adopting one of your local city parks, consider one of the parks below! We are seeking park adopters for these parks and projects. You may adopt the entire park or commit to caring for one area or project. Reach out to adopt-a-park@a2gov.org if you think one of these opportunities would be a good match!
If these parks do not fit your interest or availability, you can work with the Adopt-a-Park Coordinator to find a park that works for you and would create a great partnership. There are many City of Ann Arbor parks that would benefit from additional stewardship and beautification.
If you are a park neighbor or neighborhood association, contact us to find out if there are active volunteers in your nearby park!
Our Adopt-a-Park coordinator and our team here at GIVE 365 are willing to help adopters learn the details about each park and guide volunteers in how to best care for them. We can provide support and education, we can be present at cleanup days, and we can bring all the tools and technical expertise you would need.
Cloverdale Park
Cloverdale is a neighborhood park on the city's north side, near Pontiac Trail.
The park has a large native garden area in the middle of the park that needs to be cared for. The garden area is full of wonderful native plants such as goldenrod and New England aster!
We are looking for an individual volunteer, park neighbor or a small volunteer group. This park would be a great project for a person or group who has experience working with native plant species, since there is a wide variety, or if there is interest in learning more about them and gaining experience.
Gallup Park
Gallup Park sprawls along both sides of the Huron River south of Fuller Road. It's the busiest park in Ann Arbor- and the whole county!
Gallup has a huge array of amenities including a boat rental livery, three playgrounds, walking trails, picnic shelters and a fishing pond. All of these amenities mean that keeping the park beautiful is an enormous effort. We have several lovely park adopters working on various projects in the park, but we're looking for more!
We are seeking a volunteer group to help cut back overgrown invasive plants around the river including honeysuckle and buckthorn. The focus would be on creating views in front of memorial benches and cutting back these shrubs on the park's two accessible islands.
Huron Highlands Park
Huron Highlands is a small neighborhood park in the north side of Ann Arbor, near Pontiac Trail.
The park features a playground, two garden beds and several fruit trees.
This park needs a regular volunteer group or individual to keep up on weeding and pruning the garden beds, mulching and weeding the playground. Knowledge of or interest in caring for fruiting trees is a plus! This park would be a great volunteer opportunity for a community group or local business to help with upkeep two or three times per year.

Redwood Park
Redwood is a lovely little park located on the southeast side of town off Platt Road.
It features a large garden encircled by a paved path and bench. The garden contains native plant species such as goldenrod, wild ginger, black-eyed susan, wild strawberry and cut-leaf coneflower. We all know gardens need a lot of attention to keep the weeds at bay and keep everything looking beautiful! We are seeking volunteers to help us hand-pull weeds like bindweed, Canada thistle and mugwort. Other tasks in the garden would include cutting back shrubs, spreading woodchips and planting more perennial flowers.
Any individual or volunteer group is welcome! We would also be thrilled to partner with more park neighbors who already enjoy the park and would like to take a more active role in helping with care.
South University Park
South University Park is a small neighborhood park tucked away off of South University Avenue just east of Washtenaw near downtown.
South University Park has a beautiful walnut grove as well as a basketball court and two large landscaping beds on the borders of the park. These garden beds have been a challenge to plant.
This park would benefit from a small group that is able to help weed, plant and mulch the garden beds and occasionally pick up litter.
Riverside Park
Riverside Park is along the Huron River, just north of downtown, and close to the University of Michigan hospital system.
The B2B Trail runs through this park, along the shoreline, connecting it to other parks like Argo Park & Nature Area, Fuller Park, and more. This park also features a playground, lots of trees, and athletic fields. The west side of the park features a very large garden and tree planting area that has lots of invasive brush that needs to be cut down. There is a lot of variety in volunteering options here!
A large group interested in an adoption project or with experience pruning trees would be ideal for this site. We are more than happy to help you learn about tree pruning, so don’t let that stop you from adopting this park!
Hunt Park
Hunt Park is a large neighborhood park on the west side of the city, near downtown, with a great view of the iconic city skyline.
This is a large and beloved neighborhood park. There are rolling grass fields, tennis courts, a playground, Project Grow gardens and more. There is a garden bed full of native plants at the sign on the upper point of the park, with wild geranium and helianthus (wild sunflower), which would benefit from some mulching and division every year to increase the diversity of the garden.
This would be a great park for a small group with an interest in native plants!
Broadway Park
Broadway Park is located off the Broadway Bridge, just north of downtown, nestled between the river and the railroad.
The park contains two dog parks and a pair of small garden beds, and is a critical connector from downtown to the B2B Trail! The garden beds are in need of some weeding throughout the season, and the dog parks would benefit from a routine litter pick up and some removal of woody invasive species.
This would be a great project for an individual neighbor or group, with interest in a variety of tasks. Having the ability to walk or bike to the park might help, as there is no parking lot here, but it's not too difficult to get to!
Frisinger Park
Frisinger is a large neighborhood park located off of Stadium Boulevard, a half mile east of Michigan Stadium.
This park has a playground, athletic fields and garden beds that need some care and attention. The gardens are a highlight of this park! Bordered by cobblestone walls, they create a dramatic entrance to the park from Stadium Boulevard. They feature some lovely peonies. Routine weeding is needed here, especially in the summer. There's an opportunity to get creative in picking some more plants to fill in around the peonies.
An individual or group with some gardening know-how and interest in more frequent visits to the park would be ideal, or neighbors who would like to be more involved in the care of their local park!
