Eisenhower Park

Overview

Eisenhower Park is a 10 acre greenway located along I-94, just south of Scio Church Road in southwestern Ann Arbor. View the Ann Arbor Parks and Nature Areas map for location context. The park consists of old fields and lowlands and serves as a buffer between the highway and nearby homes. A trail winds all the way through the park, providing connections through the area. This trail was completed in 2022 as part of a neighbor-driven volunteer project. It connects to Churchill Downs Park on the north and Dundee Drive on the south.

Park Notices

Unless otherwise posted per City Council resolution, when a park is closed, no person shall remain in or enter it other than to quietly sit or walk.

Access and Parking

The park can be accessed off of Dundee Drive or Churchill Drive, with street parking on each street. The park can also be accessed through Churchill Downs Park.

The park can be accessed on foot and bicycle by walking or riding through the surrounding neighborhood streets. There is a paved pedestrian entrance on Scio Church Road on the northern end of the park. Scio Church has sidewalks and a bike lane.

Public Transportation

The nearest bus stop is along Scio Church Road, which is a five to ten minute walk from the park. Visit TheRide for closest stops and route details or check out the parks ride guide.

History

Ann Arbor's city parks sit on the ancestral and traditional homelands of several indigenous Native peoples. Read a land acknowledgement from the city and learn more about the early history of the land here.

In 2021 resident interest led to the beginning of a trail through Eisenhower Park, connecting Churchill Downs Park to Northbrook Drive (see project map). The Adopt-a-Park program accepted a special park project application for volunteers to cut brush and put down woodchips for a walking path. As part of the review process, neighbor input was solicited. To view the survey response summary and and the August 2021 update, click here. Volunteer workdays happened in November 2021, September 2022, October 2022 and work was completed on a final workday on November 13th, 2022. Volunteers included neighbors and friends of the park and student groups from the University of Michigan. The trail now provides a new connection through the neighborhood. At the same time, work happened in Churchill Downs Park and the northernmost section of Eisenhower Park on a new stormwater retention basin. Work also included an unpaved path, which connects the park to Scio Church Road, further connecting Eisenhower Park to a network of other paths and trails in this part of the city.
