Riverwood Nature Area

Overview

Riverwood Nature Area is located on Riverwood Drive, west of Newport Road, just north of M-14 in northwest Ann Arbor. It is a 4.82 acre natural area within the Newport Ridge Condominiums. View the Ann Arbor Parks & Nature Areas Map for location context. There is one small trail in the park, with both entrances on Riverwood. The nature area acts as a green buffer between the residential area and the highway.

Ecologically, Riverwood is a remnant upland forest fragment with some big trees and spring wildflowers. Features of this natural area include a high mound in the center of the park and wetlands with a small stream. Plants of note include oaks, hickories, dogwood, buttonbush and turtlehead.

Park Notices

Unless otherwise posted per City Council resolution, when a park is closed, no person shall remain in or enter it other than to quietly sit or walk.

Access and Parking

There is street parking on Riverwood Drive, right next to the park and the trail entrances.

The park is accessible on foot and by bike using Riverwood, which has a sidewalk. Nearby Newport Road has no bike lanes or sidewalks. There are no bike racks at the park.

Public Transportation
