The Public Services Administration provides leadership, administrative, budgetary and communications support for the five units that provide services for the City of Ann Arbor.
Engineering
The Engineering unit provides services including design and construction management, construction inspection, and traffic and transportation engineering. The unit also focuses on the City’s capital improvement projects.
Enivronmental services
The Environmental Services Unit is responsible for the monitoring and coordination of environmental compliance activities across departments, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. The unit develops and implements policies and programs to improve and sustain the quality of its air, land, and water resources.
Public works
The Public Works unit is responsible for routine maintenance of the majority of the Ann Arbor's above- and below-ground infrastructure including, the drinking water distribution system, water meters, sanitary and storm water collection systems and streets and public trees. Public works also provides essential services to the city including trash and compost collection while also overseeing the city's recycling contract.
Systems planning
The Systems Planning unit is a unique collaboration that brings together multiple departments within the city to coordinate asset management and maintain a long-term plan for sustaining Ann Arbor's infrastructure.
Water resource recovery
The Water Resource Recovery unit is in charge of effective collection, treatment and environmentally acceptable discharge of wastewater.
Water treatment plant
The Water Treatment unit takes care of processing and supplying safe drinking water.
