We produce high quality drinking water (higher quality than required by regulation) using the following processes
- softening to remove minerals,
- disinfection deactivate microorganisms, and
- filtration to remove particles, organics such as PFAS, and microorganisms
There are multiple barriers of treatment for each class of contamination that could exist in our source water. We conduct over 175,000 analytical tests per year to ensure your water is safe and higher quality than regulations require.
The Water Treatment Plant is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with experienced, certified operators and technicians. It takes an interdisciplinary, and highly trained team to produce high quality drinking water. Our staff includes:
- certified operators
- chemists and microbiologists
- professional engineers
- electricians
- instrument technicians
- SCADA network administrator (our high-tech computer programmer to keep systems connected)
- maintenance team
- administration staff
- customer service team
- public works team to keep distribution system maintained
Even thru ice storms, power outages, heavy rain, etc. – our staff keep the water flowing and are dedicated to the community.
What can you do to protect your drinking water now and through the future?
- Don't pollute the river or groundwater! Please keep leaves out of storm drains, don't flush old pharmaceuticals down the toilet, don't put fat/oil/grease/baby wipes down toilet/sink, and dispose of used automotive oil by taking it to an auto store that accepts this waste.
- We care about customer observations and answering your questions. Please contact us if you have questions or observations! (water@a2gov.org, www.a2gov.org/a2fixit or call WTP)
- We are planning for our future and working to replace our older 1938 plant. We need your support in this project to keep the high-quality water flowing.
