Overview
Riverwood Nature Area is located on Riverwood Drive, west of Newport Road, just north of M-14 in northwest Ann Arbor. It is a 4.82 acre natural area within the Newport Ridge Condominiums. View the
Ann Arbor Parks & Nature Areas Map for location context. There is one small trail in the park, with both entrances on Riverwood. The nature area acts as a green buffer between the residential area and the highway.
Ecologically, Riverwood is a remnant upland forest fragment with some big trees and spring wildflowers. Features of this natural area include a high mound in the center of the park and wetlands with a small stream. Plants of note include oaks, hickories, dogwood, buttonbush and turtlehead.
