2024 Upcoming Elections
Polling places are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on election day.
Absentee ballots are available beginning Thursday, September 26. The first mass mailing of ballots takes place on this date. Ballots are mailed daily until Friday, November 1.

Clerk's Office Closed
To allow our staff time to recover from the long hours preparing for the election, the Ann Arbor City Clerk's Office will be closed Wednesday, November 6th. We will return voicemails and respond to emails beginning Thursday, November 7th. Thank you for your understanding throughout this busy season.
Election News and Updates
Public Accuracy Test
The public accuracy and logic test of the voting equipment to be used on Election Day will be conducted on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at our Election Headquarters, 3021 Miller Road. The test will be conducted as part of a City Election Commission Meeting taking place at 3 p.m.
Absentee Ballot Counting
Absentee ballots will be counted at the City's Election Headquarters, 3021 Miller Road. Early tabulation will take place on Sunday, November 3 from 10am - 8pm with an estimated maximum of 45 workers. Processing will resume on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5 at 10am. We will have 5 AVCBs (Absentee Voter Count Boards), one per ward.
Early Vote Tabulation
Early Voting begins Saturday, October 26! The tabulation of early voting results will take place at City Hall, 301 E. Huron Street, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 8 p.m. in the City Hall basement conference room.
Election Day Vote Centers
An Election Day Vote Center will be open at City Hall, and the U-M satellite offices at UMMA and Duderstadt Center on Election Day from 7am - 8pm for voters registering to vote on Election Day. Voters who register on Election Day can receive a ballot and tabulate their vote at the Vote Center after registering to vote. The Vote Centers are only available for voters registering or updating their registered address on election day.
Permanent Polling Place Change Ward 2, Precinct 14
The polling location for Precinct 2-14 (Ward 2, Precinct 14) has been permanently relocated from Palmer Commons, 100 Washtenaw Ave, to:
Voters in the affected precinct can expect an updated voter information card to reach them in the mail in late September. This change will be in effect for the November 5th General Election.
State of Michigan "I Voted" Stickers
Update: We now have limited quantities of the State "I Voted" stickers as of Friday, October 4! Get any one of the 9 winning designs exclusively at City Hall or at our satellite office at UMMA. Beginning, October 26, stickers will also be available at ALL Early Voting sites. Unfortunately, we do not have enough to distribute to Election Day polling locations, so please VOTE EARLY and grab a cool sticker to show you did it!
We did not receive the State stickers in time for the mailing of absentee ballots in late September, but Ann Arbor voters will still receive one of the City's many unique custom-designed stickers whether they vote early or on Election Day. We will continue to share information about the new State stickers when we receive it.
Proposed City Charter Amendments on the November 5th Ballot:
CITY OF ANN ARBOR PROPOSAL A:
CREATION OF A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY UTILITY
The City of Ann Arbor proposes to create within its boundaries an opt-in, publicly-owned Sustainable Energy Utility (“SEU") to (i) supply, generate, transmit, distribute, and store electricity, heat, cooling, light, and power (all from renewable sources); and (ii) provide energy-related services. The SEU could, for example, provide individual or networked rooftop solar panels, heat pumps, geothermal systems, or batteries to customers to supplement existing utility services. The SEU will be fee-based. This proposal does not authorize new taxes. Shall the Charter be amended to authorize the City to establish, construct, own, and operate an opt-in Sustainable Energy Utility?
CITY OF ANN ARBOR PROPOSAL B:
AUTHORIZING TAX FOR PARK MAINTENANCE AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS
Shall the Charter be amended to authorize a tax up to 1.10 mills for park maintenance and capital improvements for 2025 through 2044 to replace the previously authorized tax for park maintenance and capital improvements for 2019 through 2024, which will raise in the first year of the levy an estimated revenue of $8,519,150? In accordance with State law, a portion of the millage may be subject to capture by the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority and the Washtenaw County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
CITY OF ANN ARBOR PROPOSAL C (this amendment is by citizen petition):
NON-PARTISAN ELECTIONS
It is proposed City Charter Sections 13.4, 13.8, and 13.11 be amended to provide for election of non-partisan candidates for those offices by filing of nominating petitions and removal of reference to a candidate's party designation on the ballot. Shall this proposed amendment to the Ann Arbor City Charter be adopted?
CITY OF ANN ARBOR PROPOSAL D (this amendment is by citizen petition):
FAIR ELECTIONS FUND
It is proposed that the City Charter be amended to add Section 13.17 to provide for a continuing and non-lapsing Fair Elections Fund with three-tenths of one percent of the City's general fund, as appropriated by City Council for the purpose of public financing for participating candidates for City Council and Mayor who voluntarily agree to receive contributions in lower amounts and only from natural persons. Shall this proposed amendment to the Ann Arbor City Charter be adopted?

A satellite City Clerk Office is open to the University of Michigan community and the general public at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) from Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 525 S. State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. The satellite office is open:

State Street Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) Election
A proposed Business Improvement Zone has been submitted for a portion of S. Street near Eisenhower Parkway. City Council approved the proposed plan on July 15, 2024 and ordered an election to allow eligible property owners to adopt or decline to adopt the proposal pursuant to Michigan Public Act 120 of 1961. The proposed Plan is available for viewing online or in the City Clerk's Office. Ballots for those eligible businesses within the proposed zone were mailed on Monday, July 29, 2024 and are due back to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Voter Registration
City residents can submit a registration form by mail, email, fax,
online or in-person. Voters can also register at any Secretary of State Branch Office, the Washtenaw County Clerk's Office, and designated state agencies such as Family Independence Agencies or military branch offices.
During the 14 days leading up to election day, voters
must register in-person at the City Clerk's Office if they would like to vote in the election. Voters must show proof of residency to register within 14 days of an election.
City residents who are eligible to vote can register to vote at the City Clerk's Office during regular business hours. Eligible voters can register to vote in the election up to 8pm on election day.
