The Community Services Area provides the services below to the Ann Arbor community.
Building, Rental and Inspection Services
Building, Rental and Inspection Services provides expertise to advise and guide the development, redevelopment, construction and preservation processes. The service unit oversees master planning; site plan review; rental housing inspections; historic preservation; zoning coordination; construction inspections and permits; and code enforcement. It also provides support to the City Planning Commission and all appeals boards.
Community Development
The Community Development Unit delivers housing, economic development and human services to low-income residents, focusing on those disadvantaged. The unit does this through direct services, contracts with nonprofits, and helping residents find quality housing and to access services.
Parks and Recreation
Parks & Recreation Services is proud to provide residents more than 2,100 acres of park land at 158 park sites. The service unit oversees the acquisition, development, maintenance and programming of park facilities.
Planning
The Ann Arbor
City Planning Unit provides expertise to advise public and private community decision makers. The unit helps ensure the best development, improvements and preservation for the benefit of all in the city.
