March 19, 2024: Is your business in the DDA? Do you put your trash in a cart? If so,
you will be receiving a new cart the week of April 8. Please leave your trash cart out this week. Your current cart is a city-owned black cart. Your new cart will be a WM-owned green cart. Once received, please fill in the cart sticker(s) with your service address to identify it going forward. As part of this shift, customers have the ability to utilize My WM, a customer account portal for submitting service requests, paying bills, making changes to services and more. My WM can be accessed online at
www.wm.com or downloaded as an app in your phone's app store. Instructions to create your My WM account are included with your invoice. For questions or concerns regarding this change, please contact WM Customer Experience at 866.797.9018,

August 8, 2023: Did you know that you can now get bulky pickup, Sunday collection, and commercial compost? The new contract with WM provides for all these services. To request trash services, please contact WM Customer Experience at 866.797.9018, or by email at [email protected]. Rates are available on the city's Business Trash Services page and include service charges from WM and administrative fees from the City of Ann Arbor. June 16, 2023: Starting July 1, 2023, all commercial businesses will be serviced, managed, and invoiced by our franchise hauler, WM. This means that all collection and billing will be completed by WM. In addition, commercial composting will be available on a subscription basis. April 26, 2023: To better mitigate the increased trash generation from businesses during graduation weekend, any business that has Saturday trash dumpster or compactor service will also receive Sunday service on 4/30/23.
April 3, 2023: Seven day per week collection of trash and recycling pedestrian cans in the downtown began for the season.
March 20, 2023: The Commercial Solid Waste Franchise Collection agreement with WM passed at Council.
March 17, 2023: The Commercial Solid Waste Franchise Collection agreement with WM will be heard at City Council for approval on March 20, 2023.
January 23, 2023: Ann Arbor Public Works continues to work with WM and City Community Standards to ensure clean and adequately serviced alleys. After some adjustments, staff have seen great improvement in some alleys and appreciate the efforts of all to keep things clean!
Separately, a reminder that all recycle containers are available for any business to use. Recycling can be placed in any available recycling container; they are not assigned to individual businesses. If you'd like more information on what and how to recycle, please visit
