City Appoints New Assistant Fire Chief, Amy Brow

Archived News Release: June 18, 2015 - The Ann Arbor Fire Department has appointed a new assistant fire chief. Amy Brow, a 23-year veteran of the department, will be officially sworn in as assistant fire chief at a promotional ceremony, commonly referred to as a "pinning," Friday, June 19, 2015, 11 a.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 111 N. Fifth Ave., second floor.

Brow was identified as the top candidate during an internal selection process. She has held several ranks within the department, including acting assistant chief. She earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree, with a concentration in public administration, from Columbia Southern University in Alabama.

Brow joins Ann Arbor's other assistant fire chief, Ellen Taylor, who has been in this role since 2012 and oversees the department's administrative services division.

"Assistant Chief Brow is a valued member of our department," said Ann Arbor Fire Chief Larry Collins, "and her extensive experience and knowledge will help lead Ann Arbor fire services to an increased level of excellence."

Brow's assistant chief duties will include managing the department's formal strategic planning process, as well as its fire service accreditation project.
