Cranbrook Park

Overview

Cranbrook Park is a 17 acre park nestled between several housing developments between Main Street and Ann Arbor-Saline Road in the southwest corner of the city. View the Ann Arbor Parks and Nature Areas map for location context. The park provides a sprawling green space with open fields and wooded natural areas. The park also contains a play area, a half basketball court, picnic tables, an accessible paved path through the park and a pedestrian bridge connecting to the Main Street entrance.

This park also contains a small natural area with unpaved trails meandering through it. This natural area is a wetland where no trail maintenance can take place. Boots are encouraged as it can be wet and muddy. Explore it at your own risk!

Park Notices

Unless otherwise posted per City Council resolution, when a park is closed, no person shall remain in or enter it other than to quietly sit or walk.

Access and Parking

There is no parking available at Cranbrook Park. There are three pedestrian entrances to the park: two on Oakbrook Drive (west side of the park, south side of the park) and one on Main Street. There are sidewalks along Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Oakbrook Drive and Main Street, so the park is accessible on foot from a variety of directions. The park is near the Cranbrook Village mall.

Public Transportation

History

Ann Arbor's city parks sit on the ancestral and traditional homelands of several indigenous Native peoples. Read a land acknowledgement from the city and learn more about the early history of the land here.

The first parcel of land that became the park was acquired in 1984. Additional parcels were added in 1989, 1995 and 2009. Since 1986, Woodland Meadows, Oakbrook Condos and Oakbrook Villas developments have also contributed land and improvements to Cranbrook Park. Active Adopters

A local Girl Scout troop has partnered with Adopt-a-Park to work on various projects in Cranbrook Park. In 2018, the troop submitted a special project proposal to build five house wren birdhouses and installed them in the park. The birdhouses have been a great hit with the birds! The troop also painted and stenciled the park’s benches and picnic tables for a pop of color.
