The Ann Arbor Historic District Design Guidelines is the primary source of guidance for work that can be done in historic districts, covering everything from mechanical equipment to new construction. Please consult the Design Guidelines when proposing work in the historic districts.

Please note: Prior to April of 2007, each individual district had a separate set of rules for changes to the exterior of homes within that district. This is no longer the case, and a new city code has replaced all prior rules. These rules now apply to all districts and all must adhere to Chapter 103 of the City Code.
