February Water Champion

Archived News Release: January 31, 2024 - Congratulations to Tony Pietras who is our February Water Champion. Tony worked in the automotive industry for more than 30 years. However, he wanted a new challenge and joined the city in 2021 as an inventory control technician for Public Works, which is comprised of water distribution, stormwater and sanitary sewer collection, streets maintenance, urban forestry, and solid waste. Maintaining an accurate inventory for these work areas is very important for keeping our water distribution system in proper working order. The inventory is comprised of 384 active part numbers, 11,420 individual pieces and a combined value of more than one million dollars. Managing and tracking this inventory is especially challenging due to the number of users accessing inventory daily but thankfully Tony is able to stay on top of everything to ensure inventories are correct.  When not at work, Tony enjoys traveling with his family, attending Michigan women’s basketball games, and chasing golf balls on his favorite golf courses.  Thank you Tony for you dedication to your job and helping to keep Ann Arbor Water moving!
