Huron River Day Celebrates Fresh Water

August 8, 2024 - ​Thank you to everyone who turned out to celebrate Huron River Day, which is sponsored by the Huron River Watershed Council.

Huron River Day began in 1980, on the 10 year anniversary of Earth Day. Check out a history of Huron River Day from the Ann Arbor District Library. This event encourages partnerships among government, private and non-profit organizations and educates citizens about water quality and Huron River preservation. Huron River Day is a day of celebrating our community's unique and special resource. The Huron River flows through our city and provides so many benefits to our community and our environment. This scenic river is a source for drinking water, a home for the wildlife and a place for recreation, including kayaking and fishing.
