Archived News Release: December 28, 2018 - The City of Ann Arbor's process to recruit and hire a new police chief is underway. The police chief position is currently vacant, with duties being fulfilled on an interim basis.
A primary component of the search and recruitment process is engaging with city residents, property owners, business owners, etc. so that everyone has a voice in identifying the best candidate to lead the Ann Arbor Police Department. Outreach will take place throughout this process; and the city has contracted with Strategic Government Resources (SGR) to assist with these efforts.
The first outreach initiative, a survey, has just been launched to collect input that will ultimately help the city identify the most important traits, priorities, qualifications, etc., that the city's new police chief should have. All are invited to take the survey online, at https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4742113/Executive-Police-Search-Survey, or to pick up a paper copy to fill out and turn in. All surveys must be completed online or turned in by Monday, Jan. 14. Paper copies are available at the following locations in Ann Arbor:

There are also ballot boxes at these locations where completed surveys may be turned in.
* Please note: All visitors to the Ann Arbor Justice Center must pass through the security screening process. All visitors and their belongings are subject to search by court security officers. All visitors are required to pass through metal detectors. All purses, briefcases or other containers are required to pass through an x-ray machine. The community is also invited to attend one of the meetings scheduled for early January. SGR will host the gatherings Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 8 and 9. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend to provide input.
