Water Recovery & Public Works Events Coming in September & October

Archived News Release: September 4, 2024 - ​The City of Ann Arbor will host two special open houses this September and October to showcase the facilities, personnel and critical work involved in keeping Ann Arbor roads and water networks running strong. ​

Water Resource Recovery Facility Open House, Saturday, Sept. 14

On Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, all are invited to the Ann Arbor Water Resource Recovery Facility, at 49 S. Dixboro Road. The open house will include:

  • Free tours*

  • Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum activities

  • Interaction with staff to learn about the plant, the operations and how wastewater is treated

  • Huron River Watershed Council exhibit

  • Light refreshments

Tours must be reserved in advance and will run every 20 m​inutes, with the last tour starting at 11:40 a.m. To reserve spots, on a first-come-first-served basis, please visit: www.a2gov.org/wastewater.

Public Works Open House, Satu​​rday, Oct. 5

On Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., all are invited to the Ann Arbor Public Works event, at 4251 Stone School Road. The family-friendly open house will include:

  • Paint a snowplow

  • Vote on your favorite names for city snowplow trucks

  • Touch a truck

  • Fix a water main break and clogged storm sewer

  • Tour the salt dome

  • Operate a solid waste truck
