January 30, 2025 - The A2ZERO Home Energy Rebate program and Home Energy Advisor program are expanding to provide more services and more funding to residents. These updates make it easier for residents to complete energy efficiency upgrades in their homes. Residents interested can learn more at osi.a2gov.org/rebates and a2zerohea.org.
Among the changes are increases to rebate dollar amounts for projects such as weatherization (insulation and air sealing) and cold-climate heat pumps. New rebate measures have been introduced for induction cooktops/ranges and heat pump dryers.
Also receiving a refresh is the application process for these rebates. Rebates are now available for individual Ann Arbor residents living in multi-family buildings, with rebates for whole multi-family buildings and complexes rolling out soon. The application process has also been revamped to make it as easy as possible to ensure residents meet the requirements, reserve a rebate, complete their work, submit proper documentation and receive their rebate funds.
In addition to changes to the rebate program, the A2ZERO Home Energy Advisor program is making it easier to schedule free, brief consultations to residents looking to ask home-related questions, get connected with contractors and receive technical advice. This is in addition to the free home energy assessment that the Home Energy Advisor program offers to anyone in the city of Ann Arbor.
“We have seen hundreds of Ann Arbor residents accessing both the Home Energy Advisor service and the Home Energy rebates, and the feedback thus far has been really encouraging. I'm thrilled that we're able to expand the programs and bring more resources to more residents," said Julie Roth, energy manager at the City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations. Roth has been leading the team implementing the rebates and Home Energy Advisor program.
The city is pleased to provide the A2ZERO Home Energy Rebates to help advance sustainability and A2ZERO goals. This $1.9 million community investment program is expected to offer over 1,000 sustainability-related rebates to residents across the city. At least 50% of the rebates are for income-qualified households. Thanks to funding from the Community Climate Action Millage, the city plans to offer these rebates in future years.
The rebates and Home Energy Advisor are part of A2ZERO, the city's plan, vision, framework and associated actions to create and implement a just transition to community-wide carbon neutrality by the year 2030. Learn more at a2zero.org.
