Building Code Variances
The purpose of the Building Board of Appeals is for reconsideration of a code official opinion or to hear a variance request from the requirements of the State Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing codes after being denied a permit application for construction.
Applications
Applications for variances of building code regulations are available by navigating to stream.a2gov.org and searching for Building Board of Appeals.
Completed applications should be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the meeting date to allow adequate time to process according to the laws, guidelines, and regulations.
Fees
The application fee for single-family residential homes is $250.
The application fee for all other buildings is $500.

Meeting Information
The Building Board of Appeals meetings are typically held the third Thursday of the month. They are located at 301 East Huron Street, Larcom City Hall, in the Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor. There is on-street metered parking available along Ann St. (2 hour maximum) or parking structures at Ann & Main and Fourth and Washington for your convenience.
