Archived News Release: March 31, 2023 - The City of Ann Arbor will hold a “roll out" event for the city's first shared e-bike program on Monday, April 3, 2023, 1 p.m. at the Allen Creek Berm Tunnel bend at the Huron River. Mayor Christopher Taylor, city leaders and elected officials as well as representatives from e-bike company, Spin, will be on hand to talk about the new program. In addition, Spin will bring a small fleet of e-bikes for participants to test ride.
Members of the media or public who may wish to take a spin on the e-bikes should bring a helmet and will be asked to sign a waiver.
When: Monday, April 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. (weather permitting).
Where: Allen Creek Berm Tunnel at the bend facing the Huron River.
Who: Mayor Christopher Taylor, elected leaders, city officials and Spin representatives will give brief remarks. All are welcome to attend.
What: Spin will bring their e-bikes for demonstration purposes and short rides. Participants who wish to ride the bikes are encouraged to bring their helmets and will be asked to sign a waiver.
On March 20, 2023, City Council approved Resolution R-23-099 which amended our agreement with Spin to allow for the introduction and operation of 100 e-bikes. The public is expected to have access to these e-bikes through the Spin app starting the first week of April. These 100 e-bikes will complement the fleet of 400 e-scooters currently operating in Ann Arbor. The introduction of shared e-bikes fulfills a mobility strategy identified in the Moving Together Towards Vision Zero Transportation Plan.
